The article is devoted to the study of wind energy as a branch of renewable energy, in particular, the study of the legal aspect of wind energy and its possibilities in the Donetsk People's Republic as a subject of the Russian Federation. The article provides a detailed analysis of scientific works that state that wind energy has not been adequately studied from a legal point of view. The article provides a description of the global wind energy, in the context of which the features of such in the Russian Federation are highlighted, in particular in the Donetsk People's Republic as its subject. The regulatory legal framework for wind energy in the Russian Federation is established as the basis for its formation and development, including in the Donetsk People's Republic as its subject. The features of state and regional legal support for wind energy are characterized. The problems of wind energy development in the Donetsk People's Republic as a subject of the Russian Federation and the ways to solve them are identified. The priority measures for resolving the identified problems are given, which determine the proper functioning of wind energy in the Donetsk People's Republic as a subject of the Russian Federation.
