Keywords:

The article provides an assessment of Russia's regional economic inequality for 1998-2022. Data on the GRP of the regions per capita were used for calculations. First, the coefficient of variation was calculated for a general estimate of inequality. Further, after data interpolation, 1, 2, 5 (median) 8, 9 deciles, as well as 5 and 95 percentiles were calculated. The total GRP of the 10 and 20 first and last regions is calculated. Based on the obtained values, coefficients characterizing inequality, its dynamics and structural features were calculated. It was found that, in general, interregional economic inequality in Russia grew until 2005, fell until 2016, and began to grow again in 2017. It is shown that the source of the growing inequality is the relatively high rates of development of the most successful regions.
